FOTD: I was so productive this morning

I am not 100 % happy with how my make-up turned out this morning. My eyeliner is proof that I have no business putting on liquid eyeliner before I have a cup of coffee in the morning. BUT I am happy that I actually had time this morning to put on make-up. It has been months since I wore make-up to work. All I have been wearing is tinted face cream, mascara and lipgloss.

Face:
MAC Prep and Prime
Chanel Mat Lumiere foundation mixed with MAC Strobe Lotion
i.d Mineral Veil
Eyebrows Carbon
MAC Accentuate Sculpt
NARS Orgasam Blush
MAC Fix+

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
MAC Chill
MAC Vanilla
MAC Brown Down
MAC Retrospeck
Maybelline liquid eyelliner
MAC Smolder Eye Kohl
NYX White eyeliner
Napolian Lash Primer
Make-up Forever Smokey Lash mascara

Lips:
NYX Flower lipliner
MAC Angel
NARS Turkish Delight
Later that day I changed and put on Viva Glam VI SE lipglass over Angel. I like that combo much better then with Turkish Delight

Do you guys like my Beret? I had been eyeing it for a while on Torrid, they finally had a 50% off sale and I had to get it. The earrings I got in China Town in NYC and the necklace is from A Perfect Accessory.

Workouts, Sex and The City and Friends

I woke up at 5:30 AM this morning (actually 5 am) because I decided it is high time that I get my body into some sort of shape.

So I got my lazy ass out of bed and got on the elliptical machine, that has mostly been used to collect dust or the occasional article of clothing. I must say that while I was on it I wanted to crawl into a hole and die, but I stayed on it, pushed myself and every time I was going to give up I would catch my shadow on the blinds next to me, curse under my breath and keep going.

To help me keep my mind off the work out, I watched Sex in the City Season One. If I have something to entertain me, it helps to keep my mind off the fact that my body was protesting every step of the way. But instead of keeping me entertained, what it ended up doing was making me feel a little nostalgic of my life and friends back in NYC.

I started to think of my girlfriends and guy friends that I knew since junior high and the mayhem we caused in the city that never sleeps. Haylie, Frank, Jay, Erica, Jared and yours truly. We met the first year of junior high and we were inseparable till we all walked down our respective aisle to get that piece of paper that costs thousands of dollars. The one that tells the world you know what you are doing in our chosen profession, when in fact we really had no clue. We had people come in and out of our lives but we always stayed together. It was the best and the worst time of my life. I would never trade it for anything in the world.

My friends are now spread out around the world. We keep in touch via email but it is not the same. I miss the days when we would drag ourselves to the coffee house and talk for hours, or hitting the underground clubs where we had no business being there because we were too young at the time, be snobs to everyone and anyone cause we could, take a trip to Central America, travel all the way down to South America and my Mr. Big having to track us down in Argentina because my parents were furious that I spent $20k in a little over two months, or the never ending quest of finding Jared his "Pierre to his Yves" (he was an obsessed Yves Saint Laurent fan). We were ruthless, we loved hard and hated harder. We never did anything half ass. I miss that.

Now I live in Washington, DC and I think about the years that I have lived here and I notice that I have not found that connection here. Is like I am from Mars and everyone else is from Earth. I feel like an alien, an outcast. It is weird. I am by no means having a pity party or asking for one. It is just a reflection of who I was and who I am today. Nothing more.

Maybe it's me. Maybe I am still the snob I was and that in turn keeps people away. Maybe I am too far wrapped in my comfort blanket and not open enough to welcome new people into my bubble. Or I am really an alien and I am just to be watched from afar. I do not know, but one thing I am sure about is I cannot wait to get back to Mars!

Nail of the Week

Nail Polish Brand: Shades by Barielle
Color: Grape Escape (2 coats)

Base: Orly Bonder
Top Coat: Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

I LOVE this nail polish color.

BUT even though I loved the color I will not be getting the polishes again and this is why:

1) I did not like the brush. It is way too small.
2) Each bottle is $8. These bottles are small. I cannot justify buying this polish again when I run out. The only reason I got it in the first place was because of the sale they had at the time.

The price alone is reason enough for me not to get it again. For that price I can buy two China Glaze nail polishes at Head2Toe or at 8ty8 Beauty. So any other reason is just icing on the cake.

If price or the brush is not a big deal for you, I highly recommend the polishes. The color is intense, even before I put on the top coat the polish had a high shine. It is the perfect consistency, not runny or too thick and so far it has not chipped.

Right now the site has a special, Buy two get one free and free shipping on orders over $50.

I wear too much black

I really do try to venture out and try to put color in my life but for some reason 9 times out of 10 I end up with an all black outfit.

ummmm... Why does it look like I have no neck? hahaha...

Ok, that is better, I do have a neck.

Top and Skirt: New York & Company
Sunglasses: From street vendor in NYC
Necklace: A Perfect Accessory
Shoes: From an Indian store that was going out of business
Hair bows: Made by Tia
Makeup: Not really wearing much today, just sunscreen, MAC Cosmetics Cult of Cherry Lipglass and Masacara.

Look at how fluffy the clouds looked today. It really was a nice day to drive around with the top down.

I spy with my Shoe Eye

I lust:

I love these Givenchy shoes but at a price tag of $785, I will just lust from afar.

I will settle for:

The "Alea" from Bakers for $89.95
I am not loving my find in regards to matching the greatness of the Givenchy shoe but I think everything I find will pale in comparison to those fantastic shoes.

Hump Day Video: John Galliano Fall 2009

I am still going over all the Fashion week stuff. I go through everything with a fine tooth comb. I am just freaky like that. Then I realized, WAIT! I have not seen my gay lover's collection?!?! What in the freaken world is wrong with me??

So of course I set out in the search of all that is Holy and Great in the fashion world. I will tell you, I busted one while looking at all this. I am even adding some picture's after the video.

By the way, Queen Pat was the make-up artist. *SQUEEE*

LOOK AT THE SHOES!!! THE FREAKEN SHOES!! I think I am going to pass out. Seriously, I can feel myself blacking out.

My Lover, in all his godly glory:

Ok, time for me to go have some water or something to calm myself down.

Obsession with Ebay

I have found this new obsession with Ebay. I can sit with out blinking for a few hours just looking at all the stuff for sale. Seriously, there is just so much. My problem is that when I see something I want it NOW. I do not want to bid for it and hope I win it, I do not want to wait for the auction to be over. I want them to give me a price, I give them the money, they ship me the item and we both walk away happy.

For example, I want this dress:

I want that dress NOW. Not days, hours or minutes from today. I want to buy it NOW. But said dress is currently being bid for, there is still days left till the auction is over and by then I probably wont want it anymore. Which is a good thing because I should not be spending money on clothes. Also, I really can make that dress.

Which on second thought, I think I will save the picture and go hunting for fabric I like and make it. What I should really be investing on is a dress form for my sewing projects.

Do you like Ebay?

Nail of the Week

Nail Polish Brand: China Glaze
Color: Bahamian Escape

Base: Orly Bonder
Top Coat: Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

This is such a pretty nail polish. Reminds me of summer and the beach. A little sloppy in the application but it will do.

I was planning on being creative with my nails, I was going to use the Konad or do something similar to my Hello Kitty nails, but I am just so tired. Maybe next week will be better.

On other nail news, I tried pairing the Blue Sparrow from last weeks NOTW with other nail polishes and I did not like the out come. So I think this nail polish is a Fail for me. It is such a shame because it is a pretty color, I just do not like how it turns out for me.

In the very near future I will be having a give away and I think I will add the polish as part of the package. Give it to a new home that will actually enjoy it and put some use to it. So look out for it!

Food, Jewelry and Nice Days

This weekend was a beautiful weekend and I got to enjoy some of it even if it was while I was running around doing errands or replacing a broken camera.

I also started a blog just for my jewelry. Please take a minute, visit it and tell me what you think. Click Here.

Last night I did some serious cooking. With my Econo Chic post about Asian food and then Pink's post on her steamed Shrimp and Tofu, I was really wanting some home made Asian goodness. I made Vegetable, Tofu and Shrimp Stir-fry, Homemade Crab meat wonton and Pink's steamed Shrimp and Tofu. To wash it all down we had some Yuengling beer and for dessert a Klondike bar.

Man, was the food good! I will have to do it again sometime.

So what did you guys do this weekend?

Econo Chic: Asian Food

I love Asian food. Chinese, Japanese, Thai... you name it, I eat it. But I have noticed that the food from my local Chinese restaurant is going up in price and the quality is going down. So I have decided that I need to put my cooking skill to good use and make my own Chinese food. Not only will it be cheaper and better tasting, it will be healthier. So on this weeks Econo Chic I give you Kung Pao Chicken.

1/2 cup reduced sodium chicken broth
1/3 cup Sake or Mirin
3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons Asian sesame oil
1 pound skinless boneless chicken breasts, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
2 scallions, chopped
1 tablespoon grated peeled fresh ginger
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 8 ounce can sliced water chestnuts, drained
1 1/4 cup unsalted dry roasted peanuts

1) Combine the broth, sake, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, cornstarch, and honey in a bowl; mix well.

2) Heat a large nonstick skillet or wok over medium high heat until drop of water sizzles. Pour in 2 teaspoons of the oil and swirl to coat the pan, then add the chicken. Stir-fry until the chicken is cooked through, 4-5 minutes. Transfer the chicken to a plate.

3) Add the remaining 1 teaspoon oil to the skillet and swirl to coat the pan. Add the scallions, ginger, and crushed red pepper; stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the water chestnuts and peanuts; stir-fry until heated through, about 1 minute. Add the broth mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture bubbles and thickens, about 1 minute. Add the chicken and cook until heated through, about 1 minute longer.

Serve with white rice.

This meal is only 345 Calories and 12 grams of fat.

You can also substitute the chicken and make it out of shrimp or sea scallops. It is just as yummy!

Enjoy!

Is it a sign?

This morning I woke up early, watched an episode of 24, had breakfast and then got ready to start my day of errands. After I am done dressing and putting on my face. I look at myself in the mirror and I am happy. I am one size smaller, my skin is not freaking out and it is nice enough for me to wear my cute purple and star top that my friend's mom got for me when I was in Florida on vacation.

So I decide "I am going to do my first FOTD and outfit of the day. Not my once in a while snapshot. I like how I look." I dig in my purse, take out my precious camera, stand in front of the mirror, then I point and shot. Easy, right? So I thought. I look at the preview and it says "Error". That has never happened before. So I tried again and again I get the "Error" message. I start to panic. I run out of the room and find Mr. P to show him that there is something wrong with my bulky, old, four going on a hundred year old point and shot that I love so much. He thinks is just that the memory card has busted. So he tries one of his other cards, pops it in. When he turns it on, the forsaken "Error" message comes up.

My friends, I must say my camera has gone to a better place. A moment of silence to my trusty friend that over the years has taken great videos such as this and even great pictures. I will miss it.

So Mr. P sets out to find me a new camera and we find out that none of the new camera's take the Compact Flash cards any more. which translates to: I can no longer take one of his cards when I cannot find mine or if I want a higher capacity one. Oh well. I just know I want one similar to what I had. So he found my old camera's upgrade.

Satisfied with the camera we set out to Bestbuy to purchase it. Now that we have taken care of that I start to think about what happened this morning. For those that have been reading my blog for a while and read the 25 things about me, know very well that I do not like to be photographed (see # 22).

Then the day that I finally decide to take a photo my camera breaks down. Are the gods trying to tell me something?

Maybe my irrational thought of me looking like one of Diane's subjects is not really irrational? hmmm?

Well, at least I got a shiny new camera out of this. That I like very much. So now you all will get better photos coming from me. Not slightly blurred pictures because I cannot stay still long enough to take a simple picture.

That is all. Ciao! xoxo

~ Dissolved Girl

* Pictures from: Best Buy and Flickr.

P.S: If you have read this far, just wanted to let you all know that I was mostly joking. I do not think I am ugly but I do think I look like one of Diane's subjects in picture's.

It is all about FREE stuff

I saw this on Fabulously Broke's blog and I thought I let you ladies know. It is a purse pack for your tampons. I do not use O.b so I do not know if what I use will fit in there. I am going to sign up for it anyway and give it a try. They are too cute not to.

Home WorkStation: Part Two

It is done! Mr. P put together the red drawer storage thing I got from Ikea a few weeks ago. I then cleaned up the table and brought out all my crafting stuff. My sewing machine finally has a home! Wooo Hooo!! I cannot wait to start some sewing projects. I still have my other sewing things that are not in my work area but since I found a great place for them in my closet I think I will just leave it as it is.

I am glad we got it done because a lady has ordered two headbands from me so I have to make them this weekend so I can give them to her on Monday.

Anyway, for the before picture's click here.

and here is the after picture:

It really has not changed much. I decided to keep the light that I already had on the desk instead of getting a new one. I will see how that works out for a while before I run out and get a new lamp.

I am so excited I do not know what to do with myself!

What do you guys think?

DC Concert Season is Underway

Concert Season in DC begins in April and I am already starting to make my list of concerts I want to go to.

My 2009 concert list:

1) Jane’s Addiction and Nine Inch Nails: Tuesday, June 9 @ 7PM. Merriweather. I love me some Dave Navarro.
2) No Doubt and Paramore: Saturday, June 14 @ 7PM. Nissan Pavilion. I love No Doubt and I love Paramore. I am glad that Paramore is getting more recognition even if it is because of the Twilight movie. I think they are a great band.

This list will grow.

I see that Depeche Mode, Nickelback, Hinder, Saving Abel, Papa Roach, Dave Matthews Band, and Jimmy Buffett will be in town but I have seen all those bands (except for Saving Abel) more then once. So I am trying to stick to seeing bands that I have never seen or have only seen once.

I just noticed that The Ting Tings are going to be at the 9:30 Club tomorrow but the tickets are sold out. I totally slept on that one. Lady GaGa, Katy Perry and Lily Allen will also be at the 9:30 Club but those are already sold out. I am sad that the Lily Allen tickets are sold out, I love seeing that train wreck on stage. hahaha. When I saw her last time she was drunk and it was an entertaining show.

OMG, as I am writing this I just noticed that Blue October will be at the 9:30 Club. Mr. P do not make any plans for April 27th because we are going! I am purchasing tickets right now! They are now # 1 on my concert list.

Oh man, the 9:30 Club is having some great concerts and just about all of them are sold out! I have now joined their mailing list. I cannot keep on missing stuff like this.

The tickets at the 9:30 club are ALWAYS cheap.

B.B King will be at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore. I just priced the tickets on Ticketmaster, otherwise known as the Mob. After all their charges the price per ticket is $81.20. I do not know what I should do. I love BB King; I know he is not going to tour that much more. I will sleep on it and make a decision later.

Ok, so as I type this I am also on the 9:30 Club website trying to purchase tickets and I am trying to understand all these extra charges they are throwing on top of the ticket price.

Let me break it down:

$30 for ticket – OK
$12 Service Charge – What are you servicing for me?
$4 So that I can get my ticket at will call – WHY are you charging me to pick up my ticket?

Total: $76 for two tickets.

I should not be complaining because the price for both tickets is usually the price for one ticket at the almost nose bleed section at places like the Verizon Center. BUT, what the hell is a service charge? I mean I know what it means but what are you servicing? And if I am being charged a service charge why am I being charged to pick up my ticket on top of the service charge? AND isn’t it supposed to be free to pick up the ticket at Will Call? It used to be free. Are they starting to charge for that too at concerts?

I may have to rethink this concert season. I miss the days when you would stand in line at the box office to buy your tickets. Where you would be with the rest of the degenerates that are just as obsessed as you for whatever band is playing. So you spend the whole night talking about the band. You would come out of there with a new friend and only pay the price of the ticket with out all these other charges that are over 50 percent of what the ticket you bought is. Sometimes those service charges come out to be more then what you are paying for the ticket.

WOW, it is amazing how I began this post excited about the upcoming concert season and as I end this I am more and more disappointed and the fire of excitement has dimed.

What to do? What to do?

Ciao! xoxo

I Spy with My Shoe Eye

I lust:

Alexandra Neel Cleopatra Fringe Stiletto Sandals $770

Those shoes are pure love.

But

I will settle for:

Black Finella Fringed Heel

It is almost a crime to settle for that shoe but it has the same elements as the Alexandra Neel Shoe, Fringe and straps. Do not get me wrong, it is still a nice shoe but I am sure you will agree with me when I say that it does not even hold a light to the Alexandra Neel Shoes.

Also, I must note that the "settle" shoe was on sale for $4 freaken bucks on the site that I first found them at! Can you believe that SH*T? ARGH! Then I found them on Torrid and they cost $40 there!!

If I would not have been at work when I saw that I just might have screamed!

Sometimes I just want to scream...

*
I like to keep my blog light and happy but today is just one of those days that I need an outlet to vent.

I work in an office where I am the only female and lately they have been treating me as the freaking admin of the office. Mind you, I do not mind helping a fellow co-worker but I do not like when my kindness is taken for weakness and they try to take advantage of me.

*
They know that for the first two hours of the morning I am not to be bothered. This is the time that I spend answering calls, emails and taking care of any other clerical stuff of mine that I have to do.

So why this morning while I am on the phone with one of my tenants I have an asshole standing in front of my desk talking to me? He sees that I am on the phone but he has no care in the world and is just mouthing off about something or another. I try to ignore him and talk over his voice so my tenant can hear me. He still does not get it. Then I start to wonder, does the guy have rocks for a brain?

I finally cannot take it anymore so I put the person on hold and ask him what he wants? The incompetent asshole starts to rant about his phone not working, when I realize what he is blabbing about I cut him off and tell him to contact the telephone company.

See we do not have an admin, because of the economy the company let the admin go and decided that we are such a small office we can each take care of our own admin needs. So if that is the case, why is this man coming to me about this shit? Not only is he coming to me about this, he is being rude about it.

*
Because of his attitude and the way he came at me. I told him to piss off. I would have in a different occasion helped him out with his problem, because lets face it, he is a guy and most of them are clueless on how to go about fixing things like this. Actually, I should not say clueless, I should say LAZY.

He left my desk red as a tomato and I am sure he is in his office right now cursing me out. I do not care!

Moral of the story, do not bother me before I am done with my coffee or before I am done with my morning to do list unless the building is burning down or someone is about to die but even then I am no doctor so call 911 and do not bother me.

That is all. Hope you all have a great day.

Until next time, Ciao! xoxo

DC Vintage

I love to go vintage clothing shopping. Especially for jewelry. Sometimes I wonder if I was a drag queen in my past life because I LOVE costume vintage jewelry.

Mr. P told me about Remix that is in S.E DC. We were going to go this weekend but with my hair dying adventure that took just about all day on Saturday and we slept in on Sunday, so we were not able to make it out.

I also decided to do some research and find out where other stores are located and make a “Stores to Visit” list and in my search I have found that DC has quite a few of stores. I am pretty excited to venture out and see what they have in stock. Maybe I will hit one store every weekend.

Here is my list of stores; some of them even have websites:

1) The Remix: 645 Pennsylvania Ave SE, Washington, DC 20003 (202) 547.0211. This is the one that Mr. P told me about. After checking out the website I am super excited and cannot wait to go. I would love to go on a sunny day so that I can also check out the Eastern Market.

2) Vintage Swank: 212 East Main St. Front Royal, VA (540) 636.0069. I went on their site and they have so many pretty dresses. Of course the dress I liked they did not have in my size. They also have these fantastic black vinyl and Lucite barrel chairs. They are to die for! Of course they are way out of my price range but they are pretty to look at.

3) Meeps: 1520 U Street, NW, Washington, DC (202) 265.6546. Per their website they were voted DC’s best vintage store.

4) Funk & Junk: 106 ½ North Columbus, Arlington, VA (703) 842-9517. Their website was a little too crazy for me and I am not too sure about their stuff. But I am going to give them a shot, I mean this was just their online stuff I am sure there is something in the store of interest.

5) Rage Clothing: 1069 Wisconsin Ave, Washington, DC. I tried to go to the website provided but when I clicked on it a page came up saying that the site is for sale. I am not sure if the store is still around but I will look into it.

Other stores that I am going to try and hit is Muster Seed, and Secondi. On a random forum that I found online, I read that the Goodwill in Arlington, VA on Glebe Road you can get some great finds.

There are many more stores but those that I listed above seem the most promising. Hopefully the prices are reasonable and not the ridicules prices you find in the vintage stores in NYC.

I will journal my findings as I visit these stores.

Until next time, Ciao! xoxo

Nail of The Week

Nail Polish Brand: China Glaze
Color: Blue Sparrow (Three Coats)

Base: Orly Bonder
Top Coat: Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

Note about the China Glaze Blue Sparrow. While the color looks very pretty in the bottle. I am not 100% sure how I feel about this color. When I began to apply the color, the polish was very runny. Now that the nails are dry the color looks dull, it does not look as sparkly as I expected or even as sparkly as it looks in the bottle. It almost looks like textured blue nail polish. Not blue, glitter nail polish.

I wonder if I should use a different top coat for this polish? The next time I try it I am going to use a different top coat. One that leaves a higher shine then Seche Vite. I will also try different combinations with this polish. Maybe a blue polish underneath and then one coat of the Blue Sparrow on top?

I really would love to make it work because it just looks so pretty in the bottle and even before it dries into its dull matte state.

Until next time, Ciao!! xoxo

~ Dissolved Girl

UPDATE: I ended up figuring out how to best use this color and I now love it. When I first used it I just applied one too many coats and I am using the Sally Hansen Acrylic Nails top coat and it looks awesome.

Today we take a break from our regularly scheduled program...

Today I would have posted my Econo Chic post but what I wanted to talk about is not ready. That by the way is code for: "I was too lazy to put together what I had planned, so instead I will do it next week." hehehehehe.... We will go back to our regular program next Sunday.

I do have other things to chat about. This weekend I was bad, but it made me extremely happy to be bad. I went on a crazy shoe shopping spree. I have not done something like that in ages! I have been so sick and stressed with work that this was a pick me up. I still want one more pair of shoes, that I saw at Steve Madden and once I get those I am going to put the breaks on the shopping and concentrate on saving money because I want to go back to school (I cannot believe I actually want to go back to college when I swore after I graduated from college the first time around, that I will never step foot into another school), get my motorcycle license and a couple other things that I have up my sleeves.

Aside from shoes I bought other goodies. After Kimberly Tia's food post, then Iyah buying some yummy looking goodies, and then yesterday the kick a** asian salad I had; I was missing living in NYC and being able to head into Chinatown to get all my Asian goodies. So after telling Mr. P my desire to go to an Asian market he informed me of one that is not too far from here. It is not a very big market but it had some of my favorite snacks so I was not complaining. I will go back with more time and pick up more things.

Shopping is not all I did. Mr. P and I went out to lunch yesterday and then that evening we went to a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at E Street Cinema. They did not have a live cast, or props, the MC was a little annoying but I ended up having fun watching the film and listening to the rest of the movie goers interact with the movie. I was going to take a picture of my getup but we forgot and did not remember till after we went to bed. Oh well, maybe next time.

Anyway, I leave you with pictures of all my goodies:

So I have to mention, these first pair of AMAZING shoes you see here, were chosen by Mr. P. Doesn't he have great taste? He always finds the perfect stuff that screams me. He knows me so well.

I love these grey shoes. I am always getting everything in black, my mom used to tell me that I look like I am always in mourning. So when I saw these shoes I knew I had to get them.

We went into Steve Madden and I saw these shoes and it was love. Look at the back of the shoe! Made me feel like a rock star when I tried them on. They also had them open toe but I figure if I am going to get these shoes for the price they were selling them for, I want to be able to wear them in the winter time too!

These last shoes are also from Bakers. I have been eyeing them for a while but never even bothered trying them on. Then on Friday when I needed to leave the office for a while before I self combusted. I went to the mall and I saw that Bakers was having a sale. So I went in, saw them and I was surprised they still had my size, since my size has been sold out on the site for a while and the other Bakers store did not even have them on display anymore cause they sold out. Needless to say I went into the office in a better mood then when I left.

I have been looking for a laptop bag for a month or two and I have not had any luck. Last week when we were out walking around the mall, Mr. P saw this bag and pointed it out to me and we knew this was the bag I had to get. We did not get it then but on Friday when Mr. P came home he surprised me with it. The picture does not do it any justice. It is such a pretty and big bag. I LOVE IT! Thanks babe!

We also stopped by Hot Topic and they are having a buy one get one half off on hair accessories and jewelry and I just had to get these hair clips. They are so adorable!

Last but not least, my snacks that I got at the Asian market.

I love Yan, Yan's but I always get the chocolate flavor. I decided to try the strawberry flavored and lets just say, I really liked them. I dug into them as soon as I sat in the car. See.... All gone.

Another thing, I am in the search of a new moisturizer. I have super sensitive and weird skin. My T-zone is oily, my cheeks are normal but my chin and always super dry. See, told you it is weird. Just about all the moisturizer's irritate my skin. I currently use the Cosmedicine line which the night cream is fantastic, I love the tinted cream, when I use it I do not even need to use foundation but the regular moisturizer makes my skin feel irritated. So now I am going to try Hope in a jar by Philosophy. I have heard great things about this brand and have always been curious. I hate buying expensive moisturizer's because so many of them just make my skin all kinds of crazy and then I get upset that I spent the money. I am going to start doing research on pharmacy moisturizer's and see if I can find a good cheaper alternative.

I am curious to know, what moisturizer do you guys use?

Until next time, Ciao! xoxo

Back to Black. Adventures in home hair dying.

I have been a red head for a total of three months. While I truly enjoyed it, it is time for me to go back to black hair. I knew that it was going to be a lot of work to maintain red hair but geez. My color started to fade right away even with the proper shampoo and fillers. My roots with in one month were showing and now on month three I have over an inch of roots! This is even higher maintenance then when I was a blonde.

My love of fashion and beauty has taken me through a lot of avenues. From going to FiT to going to cosmetology school to being a freelance make-up artist and in between using myself as a guinea pig, trying out the different ideas I have had when it comes to hair and makeup. Which brings me to todays adventure. Home hair dying. I have done it before but never when my hair has been this long and I always had my cousinor besties around to help me out when needed. Well, I live in DC now so I do not have family close by to help me out, they are all in NYC and my bestie moved. So not only did I have to do this alone, I am dying my hair for the first time at this length.

So armed with the hair color that Mr. P bought for me at the beauty supply, I set out to dye my hair. At the end it was not such a bad experience. I got some color on my skin but Mr. P helped me get it all off before it would stain.

Here are some before and after picture's of my hair.

My red hair:

In this picture the color is three months old so it has faded a lot. Ignore how jacked up my hair looks, I was giving my hair a break from styling products and tools this week.

and now my dark hair:

When I get more time in my life and more funds I will consider being a red head again, but until then I will continue to rock the dark locks.

So what do you guys think?

Until next time, Ciao!! xoxo

Can a girl have a crush on a cartoon?

Growing up one of the cartoons I used to watch religiously was X-Men. I did not watch it because I thought it was an interesting cartoon, or fun to watch, actually scratch that it was a pretty fun cartoon to watch. What actually kept me glued to the TV every weekend watching X-Men was Gambit.

Oh how I loved/love Gambit. Back then I did not understand the feelings that I got when I heard him speak or when I saw him fight, but now that I am older I completely understand. I was crushing HARD on a cartoon.

Now fast forward to present time. They have turned the comic, turned weekend morning cartoon, to movies with HUMAN actors. I have seen the X-men movies and I always thought "where is Gambit?". Well ladies and gentleman, my dreams have been answered. In the new X-Men movie named X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Gambit is very much a part of this story and he is Y U M M Y! SQUEEEE..... I am so excited.

Gambit is played by Taylor Kitsch and ladies he is dreamy. I think they did a fantastic job in casting this specimen of a man as my lover boy Gambit. Now all I have to do is try and patiently await for the release of the movie (May 1st ). Until then I will just watch the trailer below, that only gives me a glimpse of my lover boy. *sob*

Gladiator Wedges

I thought I was over the whole "Gladiator" style shoe and I never was really a fan of the "Wedge" shoe. I do not even own a pair. To me the wedge is just another thing put out there for those that do not know how to walk in heels and are too lazy to learn. But I guess I rather see a bunch of people in wedges, then girls walking around in heels that they clearly cannot walk in, looking like they are about to fall over any minute. I even have a few friends that have tried to turn me over to the dark side, telling me to buy a pair but I have held on to my 4 and 5 inch stilettos with all my might.

Before you start throwing cyber tomatoes at me, I know that not all girls that wear wedges cannot walk in regular heels. That is just what my crazy mind thinks when I see them.

Now enter Chrissie Morris with the super sexy and super cute "Sistep" (pictured above). They are these delicious suede gladiator wedges that are a part of her 2009 S/S collection. Her whole line for this season is to die for. All those Egyptian inspired lines, that even the glamorous Cleopatra would have approved of.

I find it incredibly funny that I fell in love with a pair of shoes that have both elements that I do not care for. I think that is karma getting back at me for being such a "Gladiator" and "Wedge" snob. I wonder if this will now open the flood gates and I will start to see other wedges or even gladiator shoes that I like. I actually caught myself recently eyeing Ann Demeulemeester gladiator shoe from her 2009 S/S RTW collection. Yepp, it has to be karma.

I of course will not be buying it. Chrissie's or Ann's shoe. The price tag is too rich for my blood, but you know that I will be hunting down a shoe that is similar to the Sistep. So keep your eye out because once I find them they will make an appearance on my shoe spy posts.

So what do you think of the shoe? I would love to hear your take on it.

Until next time, Ciao!! xoxo

I Spy with my Shoe Eye

I Lust:

Christian Louboutin Dallian Flower Pumps $1,695.00.

Ok, so this week I do not have a shoe that I would settle for because this shoe is a great freaken shoe. I adore this shoe. If I had this shoe I would whisper sweet nothings to it's sole, I would stroke it, take it out on dates, I would do everything to keep it happy.

I can just imagine it on my feet, walking together off into the sunset. **SIGH**

But at a price tag, of $1,695.00 I will just dream of the shoe and drool at the pretty picture.

What do you think? Maybe Mr.P will find himself a sugar mama that would get me this shoe? hmmm?

Until next time, Ciao!! xoxo

Hump Day Video: How to Tie a Bow Tie

I think everyone needs to learn how to do this. Men, so they can do it themselves and women so they can help their men. :-)

Accessories and Shoes Wish List Part One

So I was playing around on Polyvore today during lunch and I decided to make an accessories wish list. Of course this is not all I wish for but these are the things I am currently obsessing over. Some of the things on this wish list I hope to get in the near future, everything else is just wishful thinking.

Accessories Wishlist Part One
Accessories Wishlist Part One - by DissolvedGirl on Polyvore.com

1) Jessica Kagan Cushman Bracelets: These are just yummy and fun. So very me.
2) Mad Hatter Top Hat: I love Alice in Wonderland, especially the Tea Party scene. I have always wanted to have the Mad Hatter's hat.
3) Five finger half gloves: I normally do not go for stuff like this, but these look like so much fun.
4) Balmain Studded Sandals: Aren't these yummy? This is one of those shoes that I will just dream about. Have to see if I can find a close replacement.
5) Marciano 'Tam' Pump: These are just supper cute.
6) Vintage Chanel Quilted Purse: I used to own this bag. I took it with me to the Bahamas and trying to rush out of the bus we were on I left it on the seat and it was lost to me forever.
7) Giorgio Armani Sunglasses: I normally do not go for designer sunglasses. From the 12 sunglasses I own, I only have a pair by Prada and I only own those because they were a gift. But I would make an exception and get the Armani sunglasses. They are just to cool not to. Would go well with my floppy hat.
8) Stripped Metallic Belt: I love belts and this $11 belt is no exception.
9) Yellow and Black Feather headband: From all the feather headbands I have seen, this is by far my favorite one.

That is it, at least for now. hehehe... What is on your accessory wishlist?

Until next time, Ciao! xoxo

What is your signature Scent?

I love perfume's, almost as much as I love shoes but not quiet. I have a few at home and a few in rotation. I tend to choose what perfume I will be wearing by what mood I am in when I wake up in the morning. But if you were to ask me which is my all time favorite perfume I will have to go with Marc Jacobs. In my humble opinion it has by far the most comforting and feminine smell. It is not over powering like a lot of perfume's and it lasts all day and anyone that catches a wiff of it always comments on how great I smell. It is a perfume that will forever be in my collection.

Marc Jacobs key Perfume notes:
Gardenia, Cedar, Ginger.

Notes Description:
Gardenia: Mood-lifting, sensual, purifying, centering.
Cedar: Warming, strengthening, anchoring.
Ginger: Warming, strengthening, anchoring.

No wonder that once I smell the scent it makes me happy and just puts me in an over all better mood in the morning. It will forever be my signature scent.

My current Perfume stash:

Sorry for the dusty bottles, I need to clean them up at some point.

So tell me, what is your signature scent?

Until next time, Ciao!! xoxo
