I love the weekends

I took advantage of some of the sales and free tax DC is having this weekend.

Top from Forever21 (this is part of an outfit I am putting together for a super secret mission), Red headband from Forever21, Gold and black glasses case from Aldo, blue bag and scarf from NY & Company, and I finally got myself the Bamboo tablet that I have been wanting for a while.

I really want to be more Eco friendly and stop using plastic/paper bags from the stores, so I am going to start making shopping bags. This was my first one. I made it out of green and white upholstery fabric and the bottom out of white denim. I forgot how much fun it is to sew. I have plans to make grocery bags but I need to go out and buy more fabric.

A couple of weeks ago Steve Madden was having a sale and I bought the shoes above for $20! I love them. They are so comfy.

When we went to the Eastern Market I bought the cuff below from a local artist. She had them in different colors but ended up picking this one up. More my style.

Isn't it great?

I will end this with my first outfit of the day picture. This is what I wore for my Friday festivities.
Top: Do not remember where I got it.
Pants: Old Navy
Shoes: Rockport Shoes
Sunglasses: From vintage store in NYC
Earrings: Bought at a Native American Flea Market in New Mexico
Bracelet: New York and Company

Today I will be at Merriweather Post Pavillion for the Incubus concert. I am super excited, I have seen them in concert once before and they were awesome.

How is every ones weekend going??

Ciao! xoxo

Rockport Shoes

Today is Mr. P's birthday and one of his presents for him from me were a pair of shoes.

We first went to Kenneth Cole and we did not find anything to his liking. Actually, he found one pair but they were not comfortable. So we decided to head on over to Nordstroms to see if we could find anything there. On the way to Nordstroms we passed by the Rockport store and thought "Why not, I know he likes the shoes, maybe they have something nice".

Well we did find a pair of shoes for him, he picked these shoes but in black:

I was impressed by the new styles they had and loved the shoes that Mr. P picked.

While we waited for the nice sales man to find Mr.P's size I decided to browse around the store and I found these:

I never thought I would ever own a pair of Rockport shoes. I always thought of my grandmother when I saw their shoes and the last thing I wanted was to look like her.

But the colors drew me in and when I saw the price I just had to try them on. So the nice magical sales man went off to find the shoes in my size. When he came back with the grey box, I took them out and slipped the shoes on.

Ladies, I found my summer sandal! Yes, after a few blog posts, several mall trips, countless hours searching the internet. I found my summer sandal. Now I know what you are all thinking "But Dissolved Girl, the summer is almost over!" I know! I understand BUT I still have 2 glorious months of summer sandal wonderland and not only will I enjoy the hell out of those shoes my feet will love me for the nice soft pillows I have given them to walk on.

I highly recommend for you to run to your nearest Rockport store (they are cheaper at the store then on their website) and pick these puppies up. Your feet will thank you.

The Weekend

This weekend Mr. P and I took advantage of the wonderful weather and spent it outside driving around in the car with the top down. It was great.

On Saturday we had brunch in this small restaurant in DC. We sat outside so that we could people watch and continue to enjoy the nice weather. The food was really good I only wish I took picture's of it. After brunch we walked around the Eastern Market.

Here are some picture's:

Some of the tents at the Market:

Very pretty handmade dress:

Beautiful hand made glass serving plates:

It was a fun day and I hope to do it again next weekend. On a separate post I will show all the goodies I got this weekend, since I still have to take photos of the stuff.

What did you all do this weekend?

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes and more Shoes

Baker Shoes is one of my go to places for cheap shoes. They always have a knock off of some of my favorite designer shoes. Along with Steve Madden and Aldo but today we will be talking about Bakers.

While I would rather be in high heels at all times I cannot for the love of my feet be in heels during the work day. Unless I want my feet to fall off. So I am always in the look out for new flats especially since I only own 3 pairs, 2 black and 1 red.

So this morning I decided to look around on shoes sites to see what I can find.

I found these:

What do you think? They cost $29.99 - 10% since I have the discount card. I will try and stop by the store this weekend to check them out. Hopefully they have them at the store.

I also saw these:

Did you really think I was going to not come out with out falling for a pair of heels or two? hehehe....

I am still on a quest for the perfect summer sandal. The sandals I had on a previous post, were not to my liking in real life. But, I have found these:

Surprising enough they are wedges and we all know that I am not a fan but at $29.99 who cares what they are?!? they are cute and cheap!

I tried to find a picture of the Bakers version of these shoes:

Spring 2009 Gucci platform.

I loved them since I saw the very first pair on the runway. But the price tag was too rich for my blood, so I satisfied my lust by day dreaming of the shoes.

Well, a week ago I was at the mall and stopped by Bakers and to my surprise and delight they had the knock off version of this same beautiful shoe. So of course I had to have them. Even Mr. P approved. I thanked the shoe gods that they still had my size in the color black. When the lady came with the box I dug in as fast as I could and put them on. As I put them on I felt so happy but my friends, that happiness I felt was short lived.

The shoe fit but the straps were just too big. CURSE my skinny ankles!! I was crushed. I wanted these shoes so bad. Poor Mr. P was quick to try and find a solution for me (he was thinking maybe we can make more holes on the straps) but nope. They were just not meant to be mine. BUT, if you like these shoes but do not want to pay the hefty price tag, go on over to Bakers and snatch them up.

Obsession with Ebay

I have found this new obsession with Ebay. I can sit with out blinking for a few hours just looking at all the stuff for sale. Seriously, there is just so much. My problem is that when I see something I want it NOW. I do not want to bid for it and hope I win it, I do not want to wait for the auction to be over. I want them to give me a price, I give them the money, they ship me the item and we both walk away happy.

For example, I want this dress:

I want that dress NOW. Not days, hours or minutes from today. I want to buy it NOW. But said dress is currently being bid for, there is still days left till the auction is over and by then I probably wont want it anymore. Which is a good thing because I should not be spending money on clothes. Also, I really can make that dress.

Which on second thought, I think I will save the picture and go hunting for fabric I like and make it. What I should really be investing on is a dress form for my sewing projects.

Do you like Ebay?

DC Vintage

I love to go vintage clothing shopping. Especially for jewelry. Sometimes I wonder if I was a drag queen in my past life because I LOVE costume vintage jewelry.

Mr. P told me about Remix that is in S.E DC. We were going to go this weekend but with my hair dying adventure that took just about all day on Saturday and we slept in on Sunday, so we were not able to make it out.

I also decided to do some research and find out where other stores are located and make a “Stores to Visit” list and in my search I have found that DC has quite a few of stores. I am pretty excited to venture out and see what they have in stock. Maybe I will hit one store every weekend.

Here is my list of stores; some of them even have websites:

1) The Remix: 645 Pennsylvania Ave SE, Washington, DC 20003 (202) 547.0211. This is the one that Mr. P told me about. After checking out the website I am super excited and cannot wait to go. I would love to go on a sunny day so that I can also check out the Eastern Market.

2) Vintage Swank: 212 East Main St. Front Royal, VA (540) 636.0069. I went on their site and they have so many pretty dresses. Of course the dress I liked they did not have in my size. They also have these fantastic black vinyl and Lucite barrel chairs. They are to die for! Of course they are way out of my price range but they are pretty to look at.

3) Meeps: 1520 U Street, NW, Washington, DC (202) 265.6546. Per their website they were voted DC’s best vintage store.

4) Funk & Junk: 106 ½ North Columbus, Arlington, VA (703) 842-9517. Their website was a little too crazy for me and I am not too sure about their stuff. But I am going to give them a shot, I mean this was just their online stuff I am sure there is something in the store of interest.

5) Rage Clothing: 1069 Wisconsin Ave, Washington, DC. I tried to go to the website provided but when I clicked on it a page came up saying that the site is for sale. I am not sure if the store is still around but I will look into it.

Other stores that I am going to try and hit is Muster Seed, and Secondi. On a random forum that I found online, I read that the Goodwill in Arlington, VA on Glebe Road you can get some great finds.

There are many more stores but those that I listed above seem the most promising. Hopefully the prices are reasonable and not the ridicules prices you find in the vintage stores in NYC.

I will journal my findings as I visit these stores.

Until next time, Ciao! xoxo

Ramblings and Other things

I finally feel human. I was able to crawl out of the bat cave and breath semi fresh air. I am excited that I was able to head out this weekend because the weather was perfect here in good old DC. It was not cold and the sun was tucked inside the clouds. If only it would always be this way. Yes, I am a vampire. The sun and I do not mix, which my family and friends find funny since I used to spend a lot of my summers in the Caribbean.

Anyway, the first place I wanted to go to was Tyson's Corner Mall to see what kind of trouble I can get myself into. When we arrived Mr. P and I went into Barnes and Noble to buy some refreshments and while I was standing in line look at what I saw:

After my post about those disastrous boots, I could not help but take out my camera and take a picture. I was going to say something to the poor girl about her fashion mishap but when she turned around and I took a better look at what she was wearing I decided that the girl needed more help then just a couple of minutes of wisdom so I decided to leave that alone.

After we had our refreshments we started strolling around the mall and we entered Kenneth Cole. I started squealing like a little girl when I noticed that they were having a 50% sale on their shoes. As I was looking at the shoes, I noticed these pair:

Which reminded me of this post “I Spy with my Shoe Eye”. In the post I said that I would have settled for the Aldo shoes at $110 but the Kenneth Cole shoes were $50; so guess which I settled for? Well, I thought I had a winner but after asking for help and a twenty-minute wait for the lady to come back, I learned that they did not have my size. I then had the clerk look at other stores and they also did not have my size. I figured it was just not meant to be. I will settle back for the Aldo shoes.

We then went to Bakers where I found a cute wool hat on sale for $10 from $22. Then we went to Sephora where I went to raid the Make-Up Forever section but others beat me to it, it was completely bare. I settled for a new eyebrow comb that I was in desperate need for and more Rosebud Slave, that I believe no one can ever have enough of. I also bought an Art Deco nail polish in white at some random accessory store.

On our way back to the car we passed by one of my favorite furniture stores that had a living room set that I had been drooling over but I was suffering from sticker shock and never purchased. Well, the store fell victim to the economy because they are having a going out of business sale. So of course I rushed in to see if my living room set was still there and to see what mark down it had, well, it was gone! All that was left was the chair. I am so sad. Lets have a moment of silence to the living room furniture that could have been mine:

That was the end of our Saturday adventure.

Today we headed out again and this time we went to Best Buy to look for a new digital camera for me and we were having no luck today with customer service. So we ended not getting me any new gadgets but I did come out with Gossip Girl Season One on sale for $20 from $70.

We then went to Target because I wanted to see the McQueen collection up close and personal. It was so sad. Not worth the price. The clothes are so cheaply made; I saw strands of thread coming from the seams. The material also felt stiff. So darlings if you want McQueen gear please just save your penny’s and buy the real thing because the Target stuff is a wreak of a collection. Here is one of the outfits:

Moving on to other things. Now that I am better I will be heading back to work tomorrow. I am really not looking forward to it but a girl has to do what a girl has to do. I will also go back to posting just once a day. Last week you guys got up to three posts a day from me since I was in bed with nothing else better to do.

I have also decided that I will not post anything else about Fashion week. Seriously, I have other things that I want to blog to you guys about. You can always go to Style or NYMag and get your fashion week fill there.

Well I have rambled enough, hmm? I better get myself off this computer and be productive around the apartment.

Until next time, Ciao!! Xoxo
