Halloween 2009

This year for Halloween Mr. P and I will be partying with Cypress Hill at the 9:30 Club.

I am super excited and cannot wait. They will also have a costume contest, the first prize winner will get free tickets to all the shows 9:30 will hold for the rest of the year. That means when I win (yes, I will win. My costume is that awesome.), I will be able to see Blue October again, even catch Devo and relive the 80's if I so wish.

Here is a piece of the costume I will be wearing this year:

This is a handmade leather mask that I fell in love with and decided that I needed my costume to revolve around it.

I will reveal the rest on Halloween.

What will you be doing for Halloween?

Ciao! xoxo

Picture's and Video from the Blue October Concert

So tonight is the Gavin Rossdale concert and I am super excited. I finally downloaded the picture's and video from the Blue October concert so I thought I post them now. Sorry for the poor quality of the picture's but I was pretty far back from the stage and it was pretty dark.

Justin looks like a demon in this picture, hehehe:

Wow, Just Wow

So last night I went to the Blue October concert at the 930 Club and I had a fantastic time!

Blue October has easily become one of my top 5 bands that I love. They were on my top ten but last night the just catapulted up the ranks.

What freaken energy! They had me jumping, singing, clapping and doing all kinds of shit I normally do not do at concerts.

Justin is just AMAZING. He has great stage presence, lots of energy that vibrates off every cell in your body. The rest of the guys in the group? All I can say is OMG! They are equally as talented. Ryan Delahoussaye on the violin was FAN-FREAKEN-TASTIC.

Their latest album Approaching Normal was not my favorite when I bought it. I was thinking that I could have lived with out it BUT after last night, my mind was changed. It is still not my favorite of their albums but I am sure as hell happy I own it and I am listening to it right now.

Also, I need to mention the opening band. I almost missed them last night. I was so tired when I got off from work I wanted to go home and take a nap. Since I had never heard of the band, I figured I could do with out seeing them. But I made it to the club to watch their set and man, I got to say I would have been so pissed at myself if I would have missed it.

The name of the band is Longwave. They hail from my home state of NY, NYC, Brooklyn. At first glance you wonder what the hell is this? The lead singer Steve Schiltz comes on stage with a beer in his hand and I start to think "Oh yeah, this is going to be another amazing train wreck a la Lily Allen"(do not get me wrong her concert was fun, But watching a drunk person prance around on a stage is always fun). BUT, that thought was short lived. With the opening cords of Steve's guitar followed by Jason Molina's drum beats my body started to dance to the music before my mind even wrapped around the fact that I was digging this band. Then Steve in his falsetto voice started in and I was sold. Even Mr. P was impressed.

Now, I am not saying for you to run out to the nearest concert hall and watch the group. They are still the small fish in the big bad ocean, but they are worth keeping an eye on and see how they develop.

I have lots of picture's and video which I will post tonight when I get home. I just had to tell you guys about this amazing concert. You have to add Blue October to your list of must see concerts. I am serious, even if you do not like their type of music, you will after seeing them perform.

Next concert: Gavin Rossdale at the 9:30 Club on Sunday, May 3rd.

I am ready for concert season

I have picked my concerts, purchased my tickets and now all I have to do is sit and wait.

The concerts:

1) Blue October @ The 9:30 Club 4/27/09: To be honest I am a little scared of this concert because this group got a lot of hype because of the Twilight craze, so I am afraid it will be filled with pimpled, snot nose brats. I will brave it, I loved this group even before the book series and I love their new album

2) Gavin Rossdale @ The 9:30 Club 5/3/09: I love this man, he is so dreamy and I love Bush but his stuff is not bad either. Also the tickets were cheap.

3) No Doubt @ The Nissan Pavilion 6/14/09: I love No Doubt and I love Paramore, who is touring with No Doubt but I am also a little afraid of this concert for the same reason as concert # 1.

I really wanted to go to the Janes Addiction/NIN concert coming up but by the time I went to purchase them, they only had the lawn seats left. I normally do not mind lawn seats if I go with the right people and if the weather is nice on the day of the concert. Since the concert date is so far off, I did not want to risk buying them and not going because it is raining. I am sure I will get to see them in concert another time.

I am so excited I can just pop!

DC Concert Season is Underway

Concert Season in DC begins in April and I am already starting to make my list of concerts I want to go to.

My 2009 concert list:

1) Jane’s Addiction and Nine Inch Nails: Tuesday, June 9 @ 7PM. Merriweather. I love me some Dave Navarro.
2) No Doubt and Paramore: Saturday, June 14 @ 7PM. Nissan Pavilion. I love No Doubt and I love Paramore. I am glad that Paramore is getting more recognition even if it is because of the Twilight movie. I think they are a great band.

This list will grow.

I see that Depeche Mode, Nickelback, Hinder, Saving Abel, Papa Roach, Dave Matthews Band, and Jimmy Buffett will be in town but I have seen all those bands (except for Saving Abel) more then once. So I am trying to stick to seeing bands that I have never seen or have only seen once.

I just noticed that The Ting Tings are going to be at the 9:30 Club tomorrow but the tickets are sold out. I totally slept on that one. Lady GaGa, Katy Perry and Lily Allen will also be at the 9:30 Club but those are already sold out. I am sad that the Lily Allen tickets are sold out, I love seeing that train wreck on stage. hahaha. When I saw her last time she was drunk and it was an entertaining show.

OMG, as I am writing this I just noticed that Blue October will be at the 9:30 Club. Mr. P do not make any plans for April 27th because we are going! I am purchasing tickets right now! They are now # 1 on my concert list.

Oh man, the 9:30 Club is having some great concerts and just about all of them are sold out! I have now joined their mailing list. I cannot keep on missing stuff like this.

The tickets at the 9:30 club are ALWAYS cheap.

B.B King will be at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore. I just priced the tickets on Ticketmaster, otherwise known as the Mob. After all their charges the price per ticket is $81.20. I do not know what I should do. I love BB King; I know he is not going to tour that much more. I will sleep on it and make a decision later.

Ok, so as I type this I am also on the 9:30 Club website trying to purchase tickets and I am trying to understand all these extra charges they are throwing on top of the ticket price.

Let me break it down:

$30 for ticket – OK
$12 Service Charge – What are you servicing for me?
$4 So that I can get my ticket at will call – WHY are you charging me to pick up my ticket?

Total: $76 for two tickets.

I should not be complaining because the price for both tickets is usually the price for one ticket at the almost nose bleed section at places like the Verizon Center. BUT, what the hell is a service charge? I mean I know what it means but what are you servicing? And if I am being charged a service charge why am I being charged to pick up my ticket on top of the service charge? AND isn’t it supposed to be free to pick up the ticket at Will Call? It used to be free. Are they starting to charge for that too at concerts?

I may have to rethink this concert season. I miss the days when you would stand in line at the box office to buy your tickets. Where you would be with the rest of the degenerates that are just as obsessed as you for whatever band is playing. So you spend the whole night talking about the band. You would come out of there with a new friend and only pay the price of the ticket with out all these other charges that are over 50 percent of what the ticket you bought is. Sometimes those service charges come out to be more then what you are paying for the ticket.

WOW, it is amazing how I began this post excited about the upcoming concert season and as I end this I am more and more disappointed and the fire of excitement has dimed.

What to do? What to do?

Ciao! xoxo

Hump Day Video: Blue October

I really love this band. I forgot about them for a while but was reminded of them do to the Twilight Series Books (great series, go read them). So I went looking for new music from Blue October and I found the song called "My Never" below. I LOVE THIS SONG. The CD will not be out till March 2009, I just hope that they release this as a single before then because the quality of the song is not that great on YouTube.

My Never played acoustically.
"Approaching Normal"- upcoming album (March 2009)

Lyrics:

will you think of me in time
its never my luck
so never mind
i want to say your name but the pain starts again
its never my luck
so never mind

i had a dream that you were with me
it wasn't my fault
you rolled me over
flipped me over
a summersault
and that doesn't happen to me
i've never been here before
i saw forever in my never
and i stood outside her heaven

will you wait for me, in time
its never my luck
so i'll say never mind

and i've lost a lot of what i don't expect to ever return
i tend to push them 'till the pushing is gone from hurting to burn
i always take them to that place i thought they wanted to go
then end up dancing around
this clown commands applause at his show

i had a dream that you were with me
it wasn't my fault
you rolled me over
flipped me over
a summersault
and that doesn't happen to me
i've never been here before
i saw forever in my never
and i stood outside her heaven
her heaven, inside her heaven
her heaven

and i can only dream of you and sleep
and i'll never see sun light again
i can try to be with you
but somehow i'll end just up losing a friend
and i can only reach for you
relate to you
im losing my friend
where did she go
where!

i had a dream that you were with me
it wasn't my fault
you rolled me over
flipped me over
a summersault
and that doesn't happen to me
i've never been here before
but i saw forever in my never
and i stood outside her heaven
stood outside her heaven
stood outside her heaven
won't you just let me into your heaven
