Wow, Just Wow

So last night I went to the Blue October concert at the 930 Club and I had a fantastic time!

Blue October has easily become one of my top 5 bands that I love. They were on my top ten but last night the just catapulted up the ranks.

What freaken energy! They had me jumping, singing, clapping and doing all kinds of shit I normally do not do at concerts.

Justin is just AMAZING. He has great stage presence, lots of energy that vibrates off every cell in your body. The rest of the guys in the group? All I can say is OMG! They are equally as talented. Ryan Delahoussaye on the violin was FAN-FREAKEN-TASTIC.

Their latest album Approaching Normal was not my favorite when I bought it. I was thinking that I could have lived with out it BUT after last night, my mind was changed. It is still not my favorite of their albums but I am sure as hell happy I own it and I am listening to it right now.

Also, I need to mention the opening band. I almost missed them last night. I was so tired when I got off from work I wanted to go home and take a nap. Since I had never heard of the band, I figured I could do with out seeing them. But I made it to the club to watch their set and man, I got to say I would have been so pissed at myself if I would have missed it.

The name of the band is Longwave. They hail from my home state of NY, NYC, Brooklyn. At first glance you wonder what the hell is this? The lead singer Steve Schiltz comes on stage with a beer in his hand and I start to think "Oh yeah, this is going to be another amazing train wreck a la Lily Allen"(do not get me wrong her concert was fun, But watching a drunk person prance around on a stage is always fun). BUT, that thought was short lived. With the opening cords of Steve's guitar followed by Jason Molina's drum beats my body started to dance to the music before my mind even wrapped around the fact that I was digging this band. Then Steve in his falsetto voice started in and I was sold. Even Mr. P was impressed.

Now, I am not saying for you to run out to the nearest concert hall and watch the group. They are still the small fish in the big bad ocean, but they are worth keeping an eye on and see how they develop.

I have lots of picture's and video which I will post tonight when I get home. I just had to tell you guys about this amazing concert. You have to add Blue October to your list of must see concerts. I am serious, even if you do not like their type of music, you will after seeing them perform.

Next concert: Gavin Rossdale at the 9:30 Club on Sunday, May 3rd.

My Make-up Collection

I thought I do a post on my make-up collection, since it is 2nd to my shoe obsession. These are the pictures I currently have. There is more to the collection but not too much more so I figured this will do. Sorry that the pictures look a little dark. If you have a question about anything let me know.

Where everything happens, My Vanity: I have made a few changes since I took that picture. The bench now has a pretty blue floral print cover and I got a better make-up mirror.

Paintpods and Pigments:

Wishing upon a Star

I am back at work today and to keep my sanity I am posting in between doing work related things.

So I decided to do a wishlist of things I want. Also, I will be posting some inspiration pictures.

Of course a wish list from me would just not be a wish list with out SHOES!! hehehe...

I LOVE these shoes. Too bad they do not have my size anymore.

These Bakers boots are great. Very Gucci. They also do not have my size, not that they would fit since I have the calves from hell!

A rainbow petti-coat a la Patricia Fields. This I can make and will be making to wear to the No Doubt concert.

I want this Tarina Tarantino necklace. It is loud and a little obnoxious. I love it. Maybe I can make one myself? hmmm...I really do not want to pay the almost $300 price tag for it.

That is about it for right now on the wish list end. Of course next month I will have a whole new set of things I am loving. By the way, all the shoes listed above I got from the Bakers Shoes website. They are having a sale right now so go check them out.

Now moving on to other things. I saw these pictures on the Nylon Magazine website and I am loving the Circus themed shoot. To see the rest of the pictures go to the website.

My WTF item of the month is this:
Cashmere Anime Sweaters. These puppies start at $1000 each. Are they f*king kidding me? There is no way in god's creation that I would pay that much for that. I love cashmere and have paid a pretty penny for stuff in the past but these sweaters look like crap. ARGH! I bet you next they are going to wrap shit in gold and try to sell it as fashion. Or have they done that already?

I am so Jaded

Jade stones, Fresh water Pearls, antiqued heart toggle, and Amber Czech glass beads.

I did a little bit of crafting today. I am not a huge fan of yellow gold but you must admit that Jade looks great when combined with it then with any other metal. As usual the better looking picture's will be up on my jewelry blog later.

What do you guys think?

The Break-up

Dear Blockbuster,

It has come to the time that you and I must part ways. It has been a fun ride but you, my friend are of no use to me anymore.

I have given you countless opportunities to get your act together and start treating me better in this relationship. I continue to give you my undying devotion and in return all I asked is for you to carry more indie and foreign films. But instead of doing that one thing for me, you go and take away one of my membership features. I can no longer get films from the store and also have my movies mailed out to me. When I called you to ask what gives? you scuffed at me. I asked if I would be given a discount? and you said no. So essentially you took away a service and yet I must continue to give you the same amount of money with no sort of compensation.

Well Blockbuster. I give up. I will no longer continue on this one sided relationship. I will take my money and call up Netflix, we once had a great relationship and I am sure he will be willing to pick up where we left off.

Good-bye and good riddance.

Dear Dissolved Girl,

I hope that on this day you have learned a valuable lesson. That you will never again wear four and a half inch heels to a job where you spend most of your time walking around two buildings with a combined total of over 500k square feet of space. It really does not matter how cute said heels are, how great they make your legs look or how well it goes with your outfit.

That is all. Xoxo

Signed,
Your Angry Feet. ARGHHHH!

PS: Remember to stay hydrated.

Apartment Decorating: The Bedroom - Part One

I am a little bit tired of how everything is looking in our apartment. So I have decided to make some decor changes. There is not much that I can do, since we do live in an apartment and we are not allowed to paint or do any other big cosmetic changes but at least there are other ways I can make a change with out doing anything that would get me in trouble with the management office or breaking the bank.

So I am going to start my redecoration project with the bedroom.

Problem: My closet is a mess, my vanity area does not look much better. We have no curtains on the windows and the walls for the most part are bare. Also, Mr. P's side of the bed needs a bedside table. Right now he has to put all his stuff on the floor because I high jacked the table he used to have.

Solution: Make curtains, buy new bedding, buy a new side table for Mr.P, refinish my side table, add picture's to the wall, clean up and re-organize my closet and vanity area, and add some color to the bedroom.

So here is my plan:

When I lived at home I had a black chandelier in my bedroom. I had begged for one for three years and finally on my 16th birthday when I came home from school I had this great black iron chandelier in my room. It was fantastic. It was not very big but it was perfect. I still love the idea of having a chandelier in the room. Since I cannot have one in my apartment, I can have a decal of one. I found this decal on Etsy for $30. I am thinking of putting it on the wall over the bed. What do you guys think of it?

I also found another one that says "Get Naked". I am sure Mr. P would like that one better, LOL. But this is my project, so I am putting what I want. hehehe....

This table I found on the Ikea website for $15. This table would be perfect, enough space to put all his stuff and it satisfies my crafting side because I will be able to paint it in whatever color I want. I will be staining the wood red, I already have the stain so I do not have to spend extra money on that. Also, you cannot beat the price.

This duvet set I found on the Ikea website for $20. It is in my favorite color and the price is just right for a queen size Duvet and two pillow cases.

I did not find the curtain fabric I was looking for online, so I will be heading to the fabric store to hunt for it. I have to measure the windows to see how much fabric I need and then check out the prices.

That is about it. What do you think? I only have time to work on this on the weekends. So while Mr. P studies for his test, I will be busy at work with our bedroom.

So far the tally for the room make over is $75. With the decal being the most expensive thing. I may change my mind on the decal and paint my own painting to hang over the bed. Which thinking about it now I am liking that idea much better and it will bring the price total down.

I am starting this weekend with my closet. I will post the before and after picture's when the whole project is complete.

I am back, I think, Sort of

I had planned to blog last night. I have a few things to post but I got side tracked with the new order of beading supplies I got last night and instead of following my list of things to do I sat in front of the TV and started crafting.

How was every one's weekend?

I am currently on the search for a T-shirt. It is a Cobra Commander t-shirt I bought from Urban Outfitters a little over a year ago and it has mysteriously disappeared. I really loved said t-shirt and I especially would have loved to have it now to wear to the G.I Joe movie that will be out in August. So I set out to try and find another one online and I have not had much success. I have found similar t-shirts but it is not the same.

On other movie related chatter. I cannot wait till October rolls around so that I can enjoy Where the Wild Things Are. I have only seen bits and pieces of the trailers that have been floating around the Internet and I am already in love with the movie.

By the way, I have added one more concert to my list of concerts that I will be going to this summer. I will be going to see Incubus at Merriweather Post Pavilion in August. They are one of my favorite groups and after a few years of laying low they are going back on tour. I have already seen them in concert but when I went Mr. P could not go for a reason that escapes me now. But this time around he will be able to enjoy Incubus.

Are you guys on Twitter? I have been on it for a while but I never really got into it. Now I am like a crack head. I cannot for the life of me go an hour with out clicking the refresh button to see what people are doing. LOL. If you guys are on twitter and want to be my twitter buddy add me here or you can click on the little bird on the side bar. Add me and I will add you. I am nosey and like to see what everyone is doing. :-)

Oh, I also got my car back. WOOO HOOO!! I missed it so much. The problem with the car was not as bad as we thought but it still put a dent on the wallet. At least we did not have to buy a new car, which would have put even a bigger dent on the almost empty wallet.

Anyway, I will stop rambling now and get back to work. Hope everyone is having a great week.

Econo Chic: Homemade Flavored Coffee

I love coffee. I need to have it every morning in order to jump start my day but going to Starbucks or whatever coffee shop you go to every morning can get pretty expensive. So why not make your favorite coffee drink at home? Cheaper on the wallet and you get to control what and how much you put in it. Below is my favorite coffee recipe.

Cafe Vanilla Latte:

What you will need:
- Coffee
- Vanilla Extract
- Milk
- Cinnamon
- Sugar

Pour about half a cup of freshly made hot coffee into a coffee cup, followed by a 1/4 cup of milk, then 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract and a 1/4 tsp of cinnamon. Stir or used a wisp to stir everything together. After everything has been mixed add sugar to taste and stir again. I do the sugar last because with the vanilla the coffee already gets some sweetness/flavor to it so I like to taste it before I add the sugar to know how much to put in. I do not like my coffee very sweet, I like it almost borderline bitter.

Last but not least:

Enjoy your homemade goodness!

Play around with your coffee, add different flavors and see what you come up with. Mr. P sometimes makes me Godiva chocolate flavored coffee and it is yummmyy.

Walk of Shame no more!

So I was snooping around the internet looking for a video and in my search I found this: Walk of Shame Kit . Of course I was instantly in a fit of giggles.

So what is in this kit?

1) Dress - so you can change out of your club clothes
2) Flip flops - so you do not have to put back on your shoes
3) Backpack - to carry everything in
4) Sunglasses - to hide the red/drunken/messed you make-up eyes or shield from the sun for that massive hangover
5) Pre-Pasted toothbrush - No stank breath
6) Wipes - to take off that make-up
7) Call/Don’t Call leave behind note card - I think this is fantastic!
8) Awareness bracelet - A portion of the proceeds of the kit goes towards breast cancer foundation

What are they going to come up with next? Any guesses?

Dear Prudence, It's a Jungle Down There

I know I said I was going to take a break for the week (see I could not stay away). BUT I just had to post this article for you guys to read. Thanks to Debonair Debacles, I have started reading the Dear Prudence article from Slate. Well today I got my weekly article delivered to my inbox and when I saw the subject line "It's a Jungle Down There" I knew it was going to be good. Sure enough, I was not disappointed. It had me spraying the water that I was drinking all over my monitor because of the uncontrolable laughter.

Dear Prudence,
Last fall, I met a terrific woman from the Mediterranean who may be "the one." She's beautiful and has a great body that she likes to show off, but she is also very hairy. She never shaved back home, and having now been steeped in years of women's studies in the United States, she has become militant about not conforming to the ideal of hairless womanhood. She can't wait to spend lots of time at my parents' beach house this summer. She has bought a tiny bikini that she plans on wearing, so lots of her pubic hair is guaranteed to be on display. My mom and dad are going to faint. Hair in the armpits? European. Hair on the legs? Granola. But pubic hair all over the place? I've told her she may want to "trim up a bit," but she refuses. What to do, besides hide her from my mom and dad?

—Hairified

Dear Hairified,
If she feels about you the way you feel about her, surely she wants to snatch this opportunity to make a good impression on your parents. Appeal to her vanity: Tell her that if she refuses to trim her undergrowth, your parents' embarrassment will keep them from appreciating her great mind and beautiful figure. Appeal to her sophistication: Since she's lived a cross-cultural life, she knows that making a small gesture can be all that's needed to keep from muffing a sensitive encounter. Appeal to her affection for you: Explain that if her pubic hair is also her public hair, you're going to want to hide in the bushes. Emphasize that you are not asking for permanent defoliation, just for an application of depilatory so that when beach time comes around and your neither European nor granola parents see her itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny bikini, their hair won't stand on end.

—Prudie

Read the rest of this weeks submitions here.

Now I must go dry up the water off my monitor and desk. Enjoy!

Kinda Quiet this week....

I have been a busy bee this week. Work is driving me up a wall, I am trying to get my body used to waking up earlier in the AM to work out, my car broke down yesterday and I am anxiously awaiting for the mechanic to call and tell us what the deal is.

I really, LOVE my car. I need to be driving an automatic instead of a manual because of my wrist but it is hard to think about letting it go because it is such a fun car. *SIGH* I hope it is something that can be fixed. But even when it is fixed it is a sign that I must start saving for a new one.

So I think for the rest of the week I will just chill and try to get myself together because right now I am just scattered brain (I know I am always a scatter brain but right now more then usual).

As most of you know I am still stalking every one's blog. Did you think I could stay completely away? NEVA! bwahahahaha... (picture evil voice and laugh).

Anyway, hope everyone is having a great week!

Busy Fun Day

Woke up very early to go see the Cherry Blossoms today, but of course it was not possible because they were having some race that had a bunch of roads closed and when we finally made it downtown it was impossible to find parking. Mr. P feeling the force in the atmosphere changing (I was starting to get aggravated) decided that it was best we go home. I could not agree with him more. I did get to take a couple of picture's of the Cherry Blossoms, you can see them on my previous post.

Once we got home I set to work making jewelry. First I fixed the Hello Kitty earrings. I decided not to go with the lever-backs but I did change the earwire to better ones. I did change the jump ring to a smaller one. I also made a Hello Kitty bracelet.

These next earrings were ordered by a lady in the building where I work. They are silver with turquoise beads.

Then I went on to do the following necklace and earring set. Mixture of turquoise beads and black glass beads.

Last but not least is my baby blue Swarovski Crystal, Czech beads and Faux baby blue pearl earrings. I am making a necklace to go with it but I am not done with it.

Aside from jewelry making, Mr. P and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and have a small cook out. So we went out to buy a few things. When we got to the grocery store we parked next to this:

Do you see what is wrong with that picture? The person is parked in the sectioned off area where you return your shopping carts to once you are done with them. Mr.P and I had a huge laugh over it. I wonder what went threw the mind of the guy in charge of bringing in the shopping carts to the store when he saw this?

Well, that is all I have for today. Sorry for the crappy jewelry picture's but I really wanted to show you guys and see what you all thought. The better picture's will be up on my jewelry blog in the next day or so.

How was everyones weekend?

Ciao! xoxo

~ Dissolved Girl

P.S: Did any of you see the Fast & Furious movie this weekend? If you have not I suggest you wait for it on DVD, it was alright but not worth going to the theater and spending $12 a person to see it.
