Crafty Weekend

On Saturday while Mr. P was at work, I spent my morning singing at the top of my lungs to Michael Jackson's Dangerous CD and sewing my life away making this:

Back
I made this bag for my partner on Swab-Bot for the "Make me a Handmade Tote Swap". I had so much fun making it and loved how it turned out, that I signed up for another handmade tote swap.

After that it was off to make a "Handmade Bookmark". My partner loves Hello Kitty. So I only thought it appropriate to make her a Hello Kitty bookmark. I added silver embossed stars, then I reinforced the bookmark by adding as a backing a pretty cloud scrap booking paper. To protect the bookmark since it was made from card stock, I put it in a plastic holder. I used a star shaped hole puncher to add a hole to the top of the plastic holder, got some pretty blue jewelry thread, added a pretty pink bead and hung it from the hole.

These final 2 packages also went off to new homes. I was so excited that I forgot to take pictures of what I put in them.

I mailed off everything today. I am pretty sure the bag and the last two envelopes will get to their new homes quickly. The bookmark I am not so sure how long it will take to arrive to it's new home, since it is going to Canada. I just hope they all liked what I sent. I put a lot of thought and love into everything.

Today, I also received quiet a bit of mail. But like a little kid, I was too excited and started playing with everything I got and forgot to take pictures. But I did snap a quick picture of a postcard that I received so that I can show Mr. P, since it never made it home because as soon as I saw it I posted it on my bulletin board in my office. It was a huge hit with the people in my office.

Isn't it funny?
He really does look like he is saying hi! It had me cracking up for a good hour!

I had such a great and relaxing weekend. It was just what I needed after such a rough week. I was sad for it to come to such a quick end.

How was your weekend?

Hump Day Video: Michael Jackson, You Rock My World

I have a post on MJ that has been sitting on my draft folder since June 24. Every time I try to finish it the tears wont let me. So if you do not mind I will just play his video's till I can complete it.

This video is further proof of what a dancing genius he was. I get goose bumps every time I watch him dance. Is like part of the air he breaths.

How Can I be Expected to handle School(work) on a day like this?

This morning while I was getting ready for work I was watching one of my favorite films of all time, Ferris Buller’s Day Off, in remembrance of the man that was a huge part of my childhood, John Hughes. His movies brought me and many others my age countless hours of entertainment growing up.

Then I started to think, where is my childhood going? First there was the death of Michael Jackson and now the death of John Hughes. For those of us that grew up in the 80’s, those were two of our biggest icons. MJ for his music and JH for his movies.

I own a lot of John’s movies, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Buller’s Day Off, Weird Science, Uncle Buck, Pretty in Pink, etc. I watch them often and still laugh my head off every time I watch them. Sometimes I even catch myself quoting some of the lines from the movie when joking around such as the title of today’s post.

Every day I feel myself getting a little bit older. Then something like this happens and I feel myself age 5 years. Everything is changing, people are dying the world is evolving; everything that I knew and associated with my childhood is slipping away before my eyes. It makes me feel a little bit sad. I truly believe that it was a better time to be a child then, then it is now. Sure, we had our own problems, it was not prefect but compare to how the youth is today I am happy to be an 80’s kid.

"Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." ~Ferris Buller

You are so right Ferris!

Have a great Weekend my dears!

Ciao! xoxo

Thank You

I know it has been a while since I last posted. I promise I will be back soon. I was very sick for a while and then real life took over. But I had to take a moment tonight to make a quick post in remembrance to an artist who's music helped me through many tough times in my childhood. I will not go into detail because this is not that kind of post.

This post is to thank someone that really helped me when I needed it most, who's music made my soul sing and made me fall in love with music even more and much fun was always had when his songs would be played in my house.

One of my favorite memories is when I was eight years old. My uncle and I changed all the light bulbs in the living room to purple bulbs, we moved the furniture out of the way, we dressed up as Michael Jackson, and we sang and danced along through a bunch of MJ's songs.

Every time I think about that evening, it brings a smile to my face. My uncle always knew that no matter what, MJ's music would always put a smile on my face. Thank you too Tio!

Thank you God for putting this amazingly talented individual, who even with all his flaws is/was loved by many people. Thank you MJ for sharing your gift of music with us. May you forever rest in peace.

I love this video:

With much love, your forever fan:

Hump Day Video: The Indian Michael Jackson

I am sure this has been seen before, but I have never seen it before a co-worker of mine emailed it to me and I thought it was very funny and cool. I had posted it on Myspace about two weeks ago and figured I would blog about it now. Enjoy!
