Rockport Shoes

Today is Mr. P's birthday and one of his presents for him from me were a pair of shoes.

We first went to Kenneth Cole and we did not find anything to his liking. Actually, he found one pair but they were not comfortable. So we decided to head on over to Nordstroms to see if we could find anything there. On the way to Nordstroms we passed by the Rockport store and thought "Why not, I know he likes the shoes, maybe they have something nice".

Well we did find a pair of shoes for him, he picked these shoes but in black:

I was impressed by the new styles they had and loved the shoes that Mr. P picked.

While we waited for the nice sales man to find Mr.P's size I decided to browse around the store and I found these:

I never thought I would ever own a pair of Rockport shoes. I always thought of my grandmother when I saw their shoes and the last thing I wanted was to look like her.

But the colors drew me in and when I saw the price I just had to try them on. So the nice magical sales man went off to find the shoes in my size. When he came back with the grey box, I took them out and slipped the shoes on.

Ladies, I found my summer sandal! Yes, after a few blog posts, several mall trips, countless hours searching the internet. I found my summer sandal. Now I know what you are all thinking "But Dissolved Girl, the summer is almost over!" I know! I understand BUT I still have 2 glorious months of summer sandal wonderland and not only will I enjoy the hell out of those shoes my feet will love me for the nice soft pillows I have given them to walk on.

I highly recommend for you to run to your nearest Rockport store (they are cheaper at the store then on their website) and pick these puppies up. Your feet will thank you.

Ciao!! xoxo

WOW... I feel like I won the Oscars

So I got my first award, presented to me by Meandering Mel (by the way if you have not checked out her blog, go do so and while you are at it check out her jewelry blog too).

I got the:

per the rules I have to tell you 10 things about myself that I have never told anyone. Now, I have given you guys 25 things previously. So I had to enlist the help of Mr. P since I have told him every single embarrassing and none embarrassing thing about me.

Anyway, enough rambling, here we go:

1) I love to play World of Warcraft. Yes ladies and gents I am a closet geek.

2) One of my favorite movies EVER is The BirdCage. I can watch that movie over and over again and not get tired of it.

3) I wanted to be a fashion designer and even started out going to FiT but I let my parents guilt me into dropping out and going to another school, I got a degree in International Business and Finance instead.

4) I hate cleaning the bathroom, so it is Mr.P's job

5) When I was a kid I spent all my summers in the Dominican Republic with my great grandmother. I miss those summers.

6) I miss my friends and life in NYC. Thank goodness for Mr. P.

7) I hope to be able to work for myself some day.

8) I cannot live with out art or doing something creative/artistic.

9) Music is the air I breath, cannot function without it playing all the time.

10) I love to eat Sushi. If allowed I would eat it everyday.

That is it. Now I am supposed to pass this on to 10 people but that is really hard. So I am giving this award to all my followers. You all rock!

Thanks Mel!

I spy with my Shoe Eye

I got the August issue of Nylon Magazine today and I spied these little beast of a shoe:

I really wanted to hate them. I mean, for goodness sake they are tacky animal print and to add insult to injury they are wedges! But alas, the more I looked at them, I felt something in the pit of my stomach tingling. No, really it cannot be. I cannot be falling for these shoes!

So I get home, jump on my trusty laptop and type in "Ashish Shoes for TopShop" and not only do I see the pair above, I also see these:

I felt warmth. You know that warm sensation at the pit of your stomach when you know something is the one you want? That is what I felt. I was mad at myself for falling for them. But I knew that I had to show it to someone else to make sure I was not loosing my mind.

I stopped Mr. P from his game, excited to show him my find and to show him that I can be open minded to things that I normally turn my nose up in the air to.

When he looked at me like I had a second head. My excitement instantly went out the window as he said "How many animals where killed in the making of that shoe?".

I was crest fallen. I stuttered out the words "Don't you like them" In that pitiful boyfriend, I will agree with anything you say, voice, "Yeah, they're cute....." I was furious....Cute?!?!?!?!? I HATE CUTE??!?!?!?? As I sharpened the Ginsu knives for my tuna roll slice technique, I asked him what do you mean by cute......

I guess it was inevitable. This model of a boyfriend is broken. It is time for an upgrade. ;-)

So my dear readers what do you think of the shoes? Yea or Nay?

Ciao! xoxo

PS: I think I will keep my broken model. He is like an old pair of jeans, well worn, comfy and plus he is a great shopping partner . :-)

The Weekend

This weekend Mr. P and I took advantage of the wonderful weather and spent it outside driving around in the car with the top down. It was great.

On Saturday we had brunch in this small restaurant in DC. We sat outside so that we could people watch and continue to enjoy the nice weather. The food was really good I only wish I took picture's of it. After brunch we walked around the Eastern Market.

Here are some picture's:

It was a fun day and I hope to do it again next weekend. On a separate post I will show all the goodies I got this weekend, since I still have to take photos of the stuff.

What did you all do this weekend?

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes and more Shoes

Baker Shoes is one of my go to places for cheap shoes. They always have a knock off of some of my favorite designer shoes. Along with Steve Madden and Aldo but today we will be talking about Bakers.

While I would rather be in high heels at all times I cannot for the love of my feet be in heels during the work day. Unless I want my feet to fall off. So I am always in the look out for new flats especially since I only own 3 pairs, 2 black and 1 red.

So this morning I decided to look around on shoes sites to see what I can find.

I found these:

What do you think? They cost $29.99 - 10% since I have the discount card. I will try and stop by the store this weekend to check them out. Hopefully they have them at the store.

I also saw these:

Did you really think I was going to not come out with out falling for a pair of heels or two? hehehe....

I am still on a quest for the perfect summer sandal. The sandals I had on a previous post, were not to my liking in real life. But, I have found these:

Surprising enough they are wedges and we all know that I am not a fan but at $29.99 who cares what they are?!? they are cute and cheap!

I tried to find a picture of the Bakers version of these shoes:

Spring 2009 Gucci platform.

I loved them since I saw the very first pair on the runway. But the price tag was too rich for my blood, so I satisfied my lust by day dreaming of the shoes.

Well, a week ago I was at the mall and stopped by Bakers and to my surprise and delight they had the knock off version of this same beautiful shoe. So of course I had to have them. Even Mr. P approved. I thanked the shoe gods that they still had my size in the color black. When the lady came with the box I dug in as fast as I could and put them on. As I put them on I felt so happy but my friends, that happiness I felt was short lived.

The shoe fit but the straps were just too big. CURSE my skinny ankles!! I was crushed. I wanted these shoes so bad. Poor Mr. P was quick to try and find a solution for me (he was thinking maybe we can make more holes on the straps) but nope. They were just not meant to be mine. BUT, if you like these shoes but do not want to pay the hefty price tag, go on over to Bakers and snatch them up.

Want instant fame without doing anything useful for society?

Impregnate the daughter of a political figure, maybe a Presidential hopeful or a Vice-Presidential hopeful. If you are a female get pregnant by the son.

Seriously, that is all. If you do not believe me Google Levi Johnston.

What a worthless sack of trash. His bodyguard (why the hell does he need a bodyguard?) is just as worthless, or better yet he is a complete moron. I found it funny how in one of the interviews the bodyguard kept on calling the Mandarin Orient in NYC “The Madeleine”. I felt my IQ dropping while reading the article. I had to stop reading it.

Why am I going off on Levi? Well, this morning I was reading an article about Sarah’s resignation and it linked to the moron, so me being the curious creature that I am, I clicked. Big mistake on my part, I should have left it alone because it set me off on an obsessive trip on trying to understand what is so great about this kid (is that OCD part of me that could not let go).

Not only is the kid trying to get a book deal, he is trying to become an actor and a model. He has already appeared on the cover of GQ magazine.

Article after article it just took me further down the spiral of absolute disgust of how socially retarded modern culture is.

He is not the only one that has me scratching my head. There are others. But he is the one that I decided to pick on today.

There is so much more going on in the world that needs more attention than this irresponsible child. Instead of concentrating on getting a real job or maybe going to school so that he can provide a real future for himself and his spawn. He is trying to cash in on a cow that in my opinion is dry. If you did not get the memo Levi, your 15 minutes are up. Leave it alone before you end up on a reality TV show with the rest of the wash up’s.

That is all.

Ciao xoxo,
